The XV125 provides the learner with one of the biggest and most stylish modes of transport. Introduced Jan 1997 finished in red/grey or black/grey with 'Virago' badges on petrol tank.
Jan 1998 now with detail engine and electrical modifications. Finished in black/grey as 97 model or in red/black, both with stylised V decals replacing 'Virago' tank badges.
Jan 2000 Now finished in deep red or black for 2000 model year.
Jan 2001 Finished in black only for 2001 model year.
The XV 125 Virago is a big favourite with riders who want a learner-legal bike that combines good looks with a high level of comfort. Raised handlebars and ultra-low seat give a relaxed riding position - and its reliable and economical V-twin engine delivers plenty of responsive performance, making this handsome 125 a great little performer around town, out in the open roads it isn't the most sprightly thing on the highway but it does make a great first little bike if you like cruisers and it's learner legal.

They say that seeing is believing, but until you've checked out the all-new XVS 125 Drag Star you will not believe that a 125 can look so massive and be so cool!! Equipped with a full-sized long-and-low chassis and powered by a good-looking air-cooled V-twin engine, this beautifully styled cruiser comes with the same in-your-face image of our bigger Drag Star models! And it's learner legal, this will defiantly do the job if you are stuck with a 125 for a while. It really looks the part, it's a skilful miniaturisation of the original 650 and 1000cc, unlikely to give away its small-bore secret to the casual observer. Easy to ride as well, with ultra-low seats, electric start, decent brakes and easy riding habits

The Dragstar fills the gap between the 125cc and 650cc Dragstar's. A low seat height, stable handling and considerable handlebar leverage, combined with comfort, style and big-bike looks make the XVS250 an excellent born-again or entry-level option. The 250 has more than adequate zap for town posing and commuting, although you wouldn't want to spend too much time in the saddle on the open road. And it has the presence of a much bigger bike - the only thing that'll give you away is the muted, sewing-machine exhaust note. Best of the 250 cruisers by a long chalk

This is the bike that started the middleweight custom revolution back in the 80's, and after more than a decade of success the XV535DX Virago is as popular as ever. Featuring a massive-looking V-twin engine, low-maintenance shaft drive, beautifully-finished two-tone bodywork and low seat height, this middleweight custom offers more than most. Just check out its top-quality equipment and you'll agree that this is the bike to be seen on. When it's time to cruise into the countryside, you can be sure the XV will take you as far as you want to go. While it's light enough to be agile around the town, the engine's got enough pull to make life interesting and unlike a lot of competition, it has got enough ground clearance and handling competence to make it a bit of fun on a winding road. Decent handling and comfort, as well as good performance and good looks, the 535 is still the best

I'm into my second year with my 535, and I can not fault it. One word to descibe this bike?. Perfection, and that is no exageration. I have in the past owned larger engined machines, Triumph Boneville 750, too much vibration, unreliability and oil leaks. Kawasaki 750 turbo, wonderfully fast and stable, but I decided I would prefer to keep my driving license. I am very fortunate in living in the North East of Scotland, motorcycle paradise. Today I rode through Grantown onto the A9, turned north and before Inverness took a left turn on to the Fort Augustus road, some places are single track, with passing places, but hey, there is'nt any traffic to speak of. The Virago just loved this, long bends, sharp bends, straights and climbs, this bike was made for this. Into Fort Augustus, too many tourists, so I don't stop, also the road up the north east side of Loch Ness beckons. If you are lucky, and traffic is light, it's hard to find a better run, bends of every description. The Yamaha soaks this up. It is amazing how much torque there is from an engine of only 535 cc. We are now cruising past Urquart castle, the exhausts emit a low quiet bark. Overtaking coming up, no problem, the Virago has more than enough poke to propel us past the vehicle in front. Onto some twisty bits, and this is pure pleasure, lots of ground clearance, so no chance of grounding. We are coming into Inverness, and we just drop down a gear or two and saunter along with the traffic. Traffic islands, busy Saturday afternoon, what a laugh, as soon as there is enough space, we are off, again with a low weight, short wheelbase, open the throttle, lean it over, and we exiting the other side, all within the legal limits ,of course. Back onto the A9, this time travelling south, until Carbridge. Back through Grantown and along the B9102, which follows the course of the river Spey, and back home again. I reckon on 60 miles to a gallon. Top speed?. No idea, with this machine there is absolutely no need to go there to get your kicks.
Anyone looking for a top class cruiser that is not built like a truck, and is nimble enough to tuck right into those bends, then, this is it. Look no further. If this machine has any vices, then I have yet to find them. And no, I do not have any connection with Yamaha.

The Drag Star is basically a mini Royal Star - all the looks of the 1300cc behemoth with a more realistic price-tag and a more usable nature. Although it's got 100cc more than the XV535, the Drag Star actually makes less power, but peak torque is up, and at lower revs, so the Drag Star has great low-down throttle response even it it's a bit weedy at higher speed. It's built to be looked at, so its lack of ground clearance won't worry potential buyers. Certainly has the looks and attitude, but could use a bit more oomph.

When Yamaha launched this heavy-duty cruiser it caused something of a stir with the motorcycle press. And the reason that they raved about the XVS1100 Drag Star was because of its impressive engine performance and class-leading handling and braking qualities. Fitted with high-tech engine internals including chrome-composite plated cylinders, carbonised con rods and forged pistons, the 75 degree-twin motor pushes out a hefty torque curve and delivers impressive acceleration. Heavy-duty 41mm front forks and hardtail-look rear end not only look good, they also deliver smooth roadholding - and with its dual front discs and large-diameter rear disc this bike's braking is amongst the best in the class. You could say that this is one cruiser that combines plenty of show with a whole lot of go!

Like the original Drag Star the Classic version is powered by a high-torque V-Twin engine that kicks out a massive pulse of pulling power for relaxed low rpm cruising. But check out the curves and you'll see that the Classic more than lives up to it's name! For that timeless look we've fitted deeply valanced front and rear steel mudguards - and the beefy front forks feature polished shrouds that perfectly complement this big V-Twin's classy image. Other features include a large-diameter circular headlight with chrome shell, as well as raised 1inch thick handlebars - and as a finishing touch the XVS1100A Drag Star Classic is fitted with a smaller 16-inch front wheel and a fat 130-section tyre. It's pure class. If you like cruisers then this is the one

Displacing a full 1600cc the Wild Star's pushrod V-twin motor is built to generate monster torque at its 56 spoke rear wheel via a quiet running belt drive - while the ultra-long 113mm stroke makes for laid-back, low rpm cruising. The long and low hardtail-look chassis enhances the big XV's timeless looks - and with its massive chrome headlight, deep steel fenders and wide one-inch diameter bars the Wild Star is no pretender
